In-Network Load-Balanced Key Value Store

KVS Off-loaded to A Series of Programmable Switches

P4, Python, Mininet network emulator BMv2 model

  • Led a team of 3 in development of a distributed Key Value Store on an infrastructure of P4 programmable switches.
  • Programmed switch data plane logic to parse a custom packet header bearing key/value request type flags and apply a match-action table to perform the required action and route the packet.
  • Implemented static load balancing, data partitioning (key range based) and redundant standby switch logic for fault tolerance and availability.
  • Deployed an Access Control List on front-end switch, assigning two roles to appropriate read / write access across the key range.
